Does anyone see what I see? The whole thing resembles selling Avon or Mary Kay. The meetings are similar with sales training.

My only vacations and chances to get out of town were assemblies. I didn't know any better and thought that assemblies were so much fun. I loved them. I never knew what a real vacation was like.

The Most Tasteless Awake Cover ?? - Feb 8th 2003
by BluesBrother inthis magazine was disturbing to me at the time, but i lost track of it and only recently found it .
this is exactly as it was printed, no photo shop, i am not that clever.. it is credited to a newsagency, jan banning , panos pictures - so i do believe that she was a real child prostitute .
there is something that gets to me even now about this picture.

I never knew that it was a picture of a real victim. I wonder about the girl now and what she might think of the organization that plastered her picture on a magazine that went around the world. I wonder if she was harrassed because of it. It caught her at her worst and told a very ugly story related to her condition. I wouldn't want my picture or story put out all over the world without permission if I was caught at my lowest point in my life. Doesn't it seem like a paparazzi and Enquirer thing to do? It was for shock value. I thought the WTS was above that.
I never thought of it before, but putting a picture of young martyrs on their cover makes them look very very bad to others. It says, "Look at our dead children. We are so proud they allowed themselves to die for our organization!"

Does anyone else have a problem with conformity?
by milligal inrecently my husband and i moved south to an area known as the 'bible belt' for his job.
we are northerners and from a liberal area.
i just cannot seem to tolerate the amount of 'shut-up and put-up' around here.

I want people to join me or leave me alone in what I do that they may not agree with. I don't need any Bible thumping zealots telling me my business like god gave them that right. God most certainly did not give them that right! Opinionated people irritate me and make me not want to listen to them. I don't push my thoughts onto them and don't want them to push theirs onto me. It's simple. I'm never in anyone's face and don't want them in mine.

Why do you put up with crap off your JW famlies?
by dawg ini see where many of you have jw family members that give you a ration of crap once in a while; i've heard many rationalizations as to why some of you refuse to speak out.
as many of you know, i wrote a series of letters and exposed my apostasy formerly; in the letters i told my family they had better beware of shunning me of treating me like a pile when they run into me, i realized that i couldn't make them accept me into their houses, but in public was a different matter.
i basically told them that in public, especially at funerals, that i would rain down a load of crap on any family member that shunned me or treated me badly in anyway.

I love them and worry about losing their love. How pathetic is that? I think it's normal, actually. I need them and they, to a certain point, need me. It's best not to burn bridges.

Oh goodness YES! I'm way too hippie.I can't conform to other's conservative ideas to save my life. I'm bi, love pot, am a goddess in training (witch gonna-be:), don't believe in spanking children, don't believe the Bible has all or even most of the answers, and won't listen to X-ians. That is totally opposite of what others expect of me. SCREW 'EM!!

I thought Catholics didn't allow a funeral mass for suicides because they consider it a sin.

How Did You Deal With Weirdo Witnesses?
by minimus ini know that some believe all jws are "weird".
but i'm not talking about that.. there are some real weird witnesses!
you know, the ones everyone had in their hall that everyone talked about or laughed at.. we had one 25 year old man who was pioneering and he used to go out to literally every neighborhood in the city.

What if it's a parent who is the embarrassment of the cong. and kids? It's a bit difficult to be so forgiving when it's a parent who is embarrassing you in front of the entire congregation for your entire life in the org.
